Meditation for Beginners: How to Meditate During a Crisis

MSARS-COV-2, Covid 19.  For some, the scientific name for the new coronavirus stirs up a sense of discomfort.  All over the world people’s lives have been upended, as governments react and respond to the recent pandemic.  For many, the changes have been uncomfortable, challenging and frankly, fearful.

Help is at hand however, and Our Guruji, Sarva Lokaa Maa, Her Holiness Sri Sri Sri Guruji Poonamji offers us the invaluable tool of meditation to smooth our journey through these rough waters and switch out of the darkness of fear and into the positivity of light.

“The best is to accept the situation, the global situation, as it is happening and focus upon opening your energies of love and connecting yourself to mother nature.” – Sarva Lokaa Maa

Previous blogs have dealt with what meditation is (hyperlink) but here Sarva Lokaa Maa goes further to describe how to get onto this pathway, step by step. This isn’t just wishful thinking, Guruji says.  It is a process that opens up positivity and safeguards us against the raging infodemic of negativity around us. Meditation helps us build the fortitude to progress and grow.

“Mother Nature created everything and if we light a candle, sit down and ask Mother Nature how we can best serve her at this time, we will be doing a fantastic job.” – Sarva Lokaa Maa

The process starts with acceptance.  “The best is to accept the situation, the global situation, as it is happening and focus upon opening your energies of love and connecting yourself to mother nature.” Guruji reminds us that Mother Nature in all her glory, is never in crisis.  In this pandemic, it is humanity that is in crisis but thankfully, free will allows us the choice to be proactive.

“Mother Nature created everything and if we light a candle, sit down and ask Mother Nature how we can best serve her at this time, we will be doing a fantastic job,” says Guruji.  “It’s very simple.  First take a shower, clear your head, wear some very loose clothing, preferably cotton, take a candle, put it on a table and put a plate underneath…Look into the candle and align yourself.”

Alignment is a crucial first step for all meditators which is often why many spiritual practices recommend finding a comfortable space for meditation free of energetic disturbances.  Early in the morning is often recommended as a great time to meditate, when most of your local world is sleeping, and the bird song is just beginning to pick up.

Guruji walks us through alignment as follows, “When you look into a candle, when that flame of that candle disappears and then reappears, focus on the blue lines around the flame so that you come into a focus. You have emptied your mind of everything else…then you give yourself the prayer or affirmation or thought of saying thank you in gratitude to the candle for aligning you,  for assisting your alignment. Then thank Mother Nature for performing her duties the way she knows best…”

It is here, in this altered state,  that we reroute our programming with gratitude. Guruji, Her Holiness Sarva Lokaa Maa, suggests a beautiful offering that is sure to shift any day, any life, into a positive gear.

“Dearest Mother Nature, as I am a creation of yours, how can I best assist myself and others during this time or crisis that we feel as humans, is there?”

As the answers to that divine question flows, Guruji shares with us one lasting and profound thought.

“Nature never has any crisis. Be it a hurricane, a tsunami, it’s part of the cosmic plan of nature. So if we think nature is in crisis, no, WE are in crisis.”

The entire Divine Bliss Family wishes you well on the meditation pathway.  IN our spiritual family, we have all experienced the benefits of meditation, by Guruji’s grace. We can share real stories of how a regular meditation practice has helped lift some of us out of great stress or physical disease and into health, positivity and enthusiasm for life.  OM
