INTRODUCTION
His Holiness Sri Sri Sri 1008 Baba Sevananda Ji Maharaj Ji was one such true saint, who touched the lives of many of us with His immense compassion and giving. Lovingly called “Babaji” by devotees and disciples, He was a unique and different person with a magnetic persona. His boundless compassion and love drew people towards Him in millions.
Babaji is the direct spiritual successor of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri 1008 Baba Neem Karoli Ji Maharaj Ji, widely known as “The Healing Saint of India“. A true disciple of His Guru, Babaji dedicated all His work and life’s worth in the name of His Guru.
Baba Sevananda Ji Maharaj Ji is also the Guru of our beloved Sarva Loka Maa Her Holiness Sri Sri Sri 1008 Guruji Poonamji.
ABOUT BABAJI’S LIFE
Born in South India, Baba Sevananda Ji Maharaj Ji was an extraordinary person. An exemplary youngster, He would chant the Bhagavad gita as a daily routine to the extent that he knew all the verses by heart. During His younger days itself He started visiting and serving at the nearby temples and holy places.
He travelled to many places across India and His religious calling became stronger in Northern India. He was mesmerized by love for Lord Krishna. He enjoyed beautifying and decorating idols and temples. He would spend most of His time in devotional activities at Rishikesh (a city in northern India). His destiny then took Him to Mathura (a city in northern India), Lord Krishna’s birth place where He met His Guru, His Holiness Sri Sri Sri 1008 Baba Neem Karoli Ji Maharaj Ji.
HIS BLESSED WORK
Thus came the turning point in His life and His journey began with Baba Neem Karoli Ji Maharaj Ji who wanted to create various temples and ashrams. On the behest of Baba Neem Karoli Ji Maharaj Ji, the first task allocated to Babaji was to build a Lord Hanuman temple followed by a temple for Divine Mother in Mathura. Then, He built a Hanuman temple in Nainital ( a hill station in northern India) after which Baba Neem Karoli Ji Maharaj Ji assigned Him to establish an Ashram at New Delhi. This was a huge place that needed major transformation and development, so following His Guru’s orders, Baba Sevananda Ji spent the rest of His years to build, expand and operate the Delhi Ashram as an abode of love and light. He nurtured the barren jungles and created it into a beautiful flourishing Ashram with various temples, a school for children, a hospital, a huge place for cows, even fields to grow fodder and vegetables and created more facilities for devotees. Today, the Delhi Ashram spans close to 100 Acres of land flourishing with the presiding energy set-up by Babaji.
His mentor was Divine Mother and being an evolved soul Himself, He was guided by the divine energies. Yet, on the physical plane He did the mammoth task of organising everything from funds, to resources, design, ideas, etc. to build all the temples and ashram premises. Like all, He too faced several hardships but with His strength He rose above everything as an example to all devotees around.
Before His physical departure, His Holiness Sri Sri Sri 1008 Baba Neem Karoli Ji Maharaj Ji granted His spiritual succession to Baba Sevananda Ji Maharaj Ji. Following Baba Neem Karoli Ji Maharaj Ji’s principle of “Love All, Serve All, Feed All“, Baba Sevananda Ji dedicated His life to helping the needy with utmost love and compassion.
EXEMPLARY DIVINITY
Baba Sevananda Ji Maharaj Ji, spent His life spreading the love of God. A man of few words, Babaji taught disciples in His own unique ways. He could do magic. Being in His presence itself was so empowering and uplifting that devotees could feel the bliss for days after meeting Him. Just by being with him if you tuned into His energies, you could feel the bliss and hear the cosmic music.
Saints have mystical abilities and you could feel contended, peaceful and everything changed when you felt transformation happen by simply being in proximity of Babaji’s divinely radiant aura. He could directly talk to your soul by just looking into your eyes. So even with no words spoken, no action done, just being around Him could give the greatest moment of bliss in anyone’s life. By simply asking people to do mundane tasks, He could change their destiny and course of life. Such power, only a true Saint can have. He touched many lives, whom through His graces were uplifted and upgraded, some with physical materialistic success while others progressed spiritually depending on what utensil you wanted to fill.
Babaji can easily be called one of the greatest givers. Devotees readily account stories of His ability to love and give endlessly to everyone who has been bestowed the great fortune to meet Him. The exhilaration and delight of being in Babaji’s energies can be felt even today by those who manage to connect to Him energetically.
To feel the uplifted energies and to experience oneness with the divine God energies is an opportunity that only a true sain can bestow.
PHYSICAL DEPARTURE
On 13th December 2008, Baba Sevananda Ji Maharaj Ji left His physical form. While the prime legacy of His physical work can be seen at the Baba Neem Karoli Ashram at Mehrauli, New Delhi, India, His Holiness Sri Sri Sri 1008 Baba Sevananda Ji Maharaj Ji gave the responsibility of spreading the Light of His work across the world to His spiritual successor, Sarva Loka Maa Her Holiness Sri Sri Sri 1008 Guruji Poonamji.
Devotees have built a beautiful temple in the memory of Babaji where even today His uplifting energies can be felt by those who connect to Him with a clear mind and focus.
